Subway radio station
during the time of a hour I went to a subway store and listened to the radio that they played . it was easy listening music .a person can buy a yeas subscription for the radio on subway for £55.
music
the music that was played was easy listening which was good since Iwas a place to eat so the music made it quite calming . The music that was played was tings like nickel back and shes got me dancing . All of the of the songs that was played were recurrent hits songs that are not in the charts at this moment in time . I found that listening to the music was kinda depressing Ifound that the music was to slow with the beat . Also there was some dead air between each song which lasted for 1 or 2 seconds .The music that was played would not be R&B music becasue people who are in the shop want to eat thier meal in peace and do not wish to listen to loud teckno music .
there was no station IDs on the radio station during the hour which I thought they should have because it will show that subway has created the radio station and to advertise the shop. also there was no presenters talking on the radio . When I was in subway I did not hear any permotionto have a job in subway but I have heard that they do have job permotions on the radio .
Music Programme Types And Styles
Internet Radio
internet radio
The next type of radio station I listened to was internet
radio the radio. The radio company is called threes a crowed. The type of radio
format of the radio channel is a speciality it is a mixed between UK dance and garage.
the program I watched is aired at the 7 pm to 9 pm.
Threes company is aimed at yon adults aged between 16 and 25
licence audience which are people who are outside of the main music type of
their age group .
Station id
The station id was only used once in the hour that I was listening
to it . Because it is being watched on the internet it will have the logo all
over the screen also because you need to type in the website address you already
know what you are listening to.
Music
The music played on the internet radio station is aimed at
the ages of 16 to 25 . the music is a cross between dance and garage music . The
songs that where played are unknown for me since I do not listen to that type
of music but it is aimed at a small group of people who do. The amount of music
to talking is about 95% to 5%. . This radio program was played at 7 pm so the people who are about to go out to the clubs so it is the same type of music that would be found in clubs .
Presenters
One of the two presenters on the show was called Ryan both
of the presenters was both unexsperances this is because most people who are on
internet radio stations are just starting up in the radio business. Also the mike
quality was not very good. Also since the show is aimed at young adults the
type of language the presenters used was very informal and used a lot of slang
for example in the show one of the presenters used the phases " here comes
the bad boy drop" . The persenters talk direcly to the audiece which gets them listering makeing them think they are talking them .
Commercial Radio Station
Committal Radio Station
Capital
The next type of radio station was a commercial radio station.
The committal radio station I used was Capital Radio. Capital is a recurrent
and contemporary hit radio station this means that they used new music that is
in the charts and older music that is still popular.
Station ids
The station ids was used after most of the songs and at the
beginning and end of the advertisement that is on. The amount of station IDs
that I have counted during the hour of listening was 20 .They are that many IDs because they need to permote there radio station also it is used to tell the audience what they are listening to .
advertisement
advertisement
Because capital is a comemeral radio station advertisement
is used during the hour there were 4 waves of advertisement which was used in a
gap of about 4 or 5 songs. During the time I was watching a total of 17 songs were
used. These advertisements consisted of adverts that are aimed at the ages of
16 to 25 these adverts were about voting and new jobs this is because their is a lot of unemployment for young people and they are trying to interest into politics and telling them how to vote. They have done this because that is what youn people need to know about.
songs
the songs that was played was all modem music that have been
in the recent charts in the last month or so . These songs included wake me up,
light it up and wild. All of the songs that was played are pop and R&B
music and all of the artist are all well know like Jessie J Lawson and Jason Derulo.
During the hour that i was listening to a total of 14 songs are played. The
song the talk ratio was about 60:40. I found that the songs that was played were to repetitive the same songs that our on all day every day so when I make mine I will make a mixture of old and new music .
Presenters language
The presenter that was on when I was listening to capital
was called Pandora she was very enthusiastic about everything she says. She uses
lots of slang and talks very informally since she is talking to young adults. When
she is talking she explains about a completion about what you can win and how
you enter. But the main thing she does is intrudes the next song. I thought the
presenter was good because she kept me interested and made me want to listen to
the whole program.the presenter talks directly at the lisner . All of the persenters that are on the radio are at the same age range as the audice because it will appeal to them more .
News
During the hour they had one news report that talks about
local news in the area like the slave in Eccels and local sports news. It also had e travel news from the Manchester area.
because it is aimed at my target audience the presenters language and the type of music would interest me.
because it is aimed at my target audience the presenters language and the type of music would interest me.
I also listened to another committal radio. The other radio station
I used was Smooth I did this because it is a station that I would not necessary
listens to. Smooth radio was a jazz based radio station but now it has changed
to an easy listen and gold style radio station. Smooth audience is around the
age group of 40 to 60 and those who enjoy the music of Motown.
Songs
here was 12 songs that were played the songs where mainly
old music that are about 40 to 50 years old some of these songs included rescue
me , stand by me and a song from Elvis . all of the songs that was played where
calming music . the sons that are played o the radio station are good for older people but I will not be using this music in my radio program because dose not appeal to people my age range .The songs that was played was music that the audice would of lissend to when they was in thier 20s by playing these music it will give them memerys of when they was younger. Also even though it is aimed at the older audice it will still play new music as long as it fits in to the gener of the radio station like when I need a dollar came out it was played on smooth radio .
Station IDs
During the hour that I was listing to the radio the station
ID was played 13 time this was done after every song , It was also used before
and after the advertisement. They need to have the advertisement played every 5
minutes legally to show what station they are littering to. And to permote the radio station.
22 advertisement was used in the hour that i was listing to
these was split up into 4 different advertisement brakes with about 6 adverts
in each brake . the advertisement included things about health insurance and
how to make life cheaper by having discounts .These advertisment was used because at the age they are at they will probly need to star thinking about leaveing things behind of thier chillderen and also to make thier liveing exspeces cheeper.
News
The only news that was on was travel news but the problem
about that the show that was on was a repeat so it was travel report from two
days before I herd it . the news was mainly about court cases and crime that is haponing in England.
Presenters language
The way the presenter was talking was formal as if they were
talking to a 50 year old. The man that was talking was an older man who I image
was about 45 years old he had a very calming voice that is good because it
suits with the style of music. He talks a little bit about the House of Commons
this is because older people will probably be more interested in politics than
younger people. But the main thing the presenter did was introduce the next song.
The persenter talks directly to the listner and tells them to interact with the radio station by tweeting in songs that they want to be played ont the radio and most of the time he would give them a shout out and play the song as long as it is the same type of music that is played on the radio .
Although I enjoyed the style of the station and the voice of
the presenter I would not listen to smooth because I do not like the type of music.
Public Services Radio
Public Services Radio
BBC Radio 1
for 1 hour between 3 and 4 pm I listened to BBC radio 1 . I made sure that I lessened out for the language of the radio presenter , how many station IDs were used during the hour , The songs that was played during it and the news that was told in it.BBC radio 1 is aimed at an audience between 16 and 25 the type of show that was on is a recurrent and contemporary hit radio .
Station IDs
the station IDs was used as a jingle after most of the songs. a jingle would have about 3 seconds worth of music and then it would say BBC radio 1 . I counted that the ID was used 10 times in the hour that I was listing to the radio . hey have is many station IDs because it needs to promote the station and to tell the listener what station hey are listing to .
songs
all of the songs that was used in the radio was aimed at the age group between 16 and 25 so the genre of the music is mainly pop and R&B . during the 1 hour that I was listening their were a total of 12 songs that was played most of the songs that where played are modern songs that have been newly relived and are in the charts this was done because the age group that it is aimed at would listen to new music .the songs that were played were catchy songs that when you heard them you would not want to switched off these songs included what doest kill you , nobody tills somebody loves you and disco love . Also it has redcurrant hit a song that remains popular for a while after it goes off the charts such as party rock by LMFAO . it also had the top 10 of the weeks most downloaded tracks number 1 was one republic counting stars . I think that the music played was a good range of oldish and new music when i make my radio program I will make the music in this style.
DJ
the language of the DJ was using informal slang style as if he was talking to a teenager . the afternoon DJ is called Scot Mills he mainly talked about random things that included dell boy of only fools and houses , zoos in the middle ages and talked about the + sign being different in japan . basically talking about random tings. they also had a game in it called wheal or no wheal which is a true of false game . they had a special gust who was a actor called rehana .they also talks about a chance to win a place to go to the teen choice awards. Most of the time he was just introducing what is coming up next on BBC 1 . His guest was just laghthing at everything they said even if it was not very funny . I did no enjoy the presenter for BBC radio 1 he was trying to be to hard funny but it was mainly talking about things that people my age do not really care about. The persenters talks directory to the listerner they interduse compertishans in which the vewers can enter and try to win a trip to go to new york to watch a group o music artist performe live .
news
the news that is on BBC is things that involve finding jobs football an caustics of war this is on the news because it involves people who are at the age range between 16 and 25.
